3 Days Trip: Marrakech to Merzouga Desert via Atlas Mountains

Short on time? This is the route that made Morocco famous. Day one climbs the Tizi n’Tichka to Aït Ben Haddou; day two delivers you by camel into the heart of Erg Chebbi; day three loops home through the Draa palm oases. Ideal as a long weekend or as the desert chapter of a longer stay in Marrakech.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Marrakech → Atlas Pass → Aït Ben Haddou → Dades

8:00 AM departure, panoramic Atlas stops, guided Aït Ben Haddou visit and optional lunch, then the Valley of Roses to Dades for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Dades → Todra Gorge → Merzouga Camel Trek & Camp

Walk beneath the Todra’s 300-metre walls, lunch in Tinjdad, then camels into the dunes at sunset. Berber dinner, drums and stargazing at camp.

Day 3

Merzouga → Rissani → Draa Valley → Marrakech

Sunrise from the great dune, breakfast, then southwest via Rissani, Agdz and the palm sea of the Draa, climbing back to Marrakech by ~6:00 PM.
