3 Days Tour: Fes to Merzouga Sahara Desert

3 Days / 2 Nights

2 – 16 travelers

Fes → Merzouga

€350 / person

Description

The classic desert escape from the north. Leaving Fes behind, the landscape unrolls like a film reel: the alpine town of Ifrane, Barbary macaques in the Middle Atlas cedar forest, the 20-mile palm ribbon of the Ziz Valley, and finally the rose-gold dunes of Erg Chebbi. Two nights include one in the desert itself, with campfire drums and a sunrise you’ll never delete.

Trip Highlights

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga

Depart 8:00 AM via Ifrane and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to troops of Barbary macaques. Lunch in Midelt — ‘the apple capital’ — then follow the Ziz Valley to Erfoud and Merzouga for dinner and overnight in a riad at the dune’s edge.

Day 2

Merzouga Desert Day & Night in Camp

A 4×4 morning introduces nomad families, the Khamlia Gnawa musicians and the seasonal Sarji lake. Afternoon at leisure by the pool. At sunset, camels carry you into the dunes to camp: dinner, drums and stars.

Day 3

Sunrise → Rissani → Departure Transfer

Climb the highest dune for sunrise, enjoy breakfast at camp, then visit Rissani’s traditional souk (market days: Sun, Tue, Thu). Transfer onward to Fes or continue to Marrakech (arrival ~6:00 PM).
