Spend day one with our licensed city guide uncovering palaces, souks and the Jemaa el-Fnaa theatre, then trade the medina’s buzz for the calm of the Atlas foothills, World Heritage kasbahs and a camel-backed sunset into camp.
Day 1
Meet your guide at 9:30 AM for the Koutoubia minaret, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs and the labyrinthine souks. Evening free to watch the Jemaa el-Fnaa come alive. Overnight in a medina riad.
Day 2
Cross the High Atlas, visit Aït Ben Haddou with lunch overlooking the ksar, then continue to Ouarzazate’s Taourirt Kasbah and the Dades Valley for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Walk the palm-lined Todra Gorge, browse the fossil shops of Erfoud and reach Merzouga by late afternoon. Swap the minivan for camels and ride into the dunes for sunset, dinner and drumming at camp.
Day 4
Sunrise from the dune crest, breakfast at camp, then west through Rissani’s donkey souk and the palm oases of the Draa to Ouarzazate. Overnight in a kasbah hotel.
Day 5
Return across the Atlas with a lunch stop in a mountain village, arriving in Marrakech by late afternoon.
